
About David Casey
David S. Casey, Jr. joined CaseyGerry in 1976 after working as a prosecutor for the San Diego City Attorney's office. The firm was founded by his father, David S. Casey Sr., in 1947. Over more than 40 years in practice, David has secured dozens of high-profile verdicts and settlements. He was appointed to the national Plaintiff's Steering Committee in the Volkswagen diesel emissions litigation, which resolved for $14.7 billion, and served on the Plaintiff's Steering Committee in the Chrysler Dodge-Jeep Ecodiesel litigation, which settled for $300 million. He is a past president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (now American Association for Justice), the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Western Trial Lawyers Association, and the San Diego Trial Lawyers Association. His awards include the 2018 Witkin Award for Excellence in the Practice of Law, the 2019 Hughes McClenahan Award by ABOTA, and the 2019 University of San Diego Distinguished Alumni Award. He has been recognized as one of the Daily Journal's Top 100 Lawyers in California on eleven occasions and a Super Lawyer since 2007. Since 2008 he has served as state chair for federal judicial selection in California.
