About Bert Sakuda
Bert S. Sakuda joined the firm in 1979 and is one of its senior lawyers. He has held the highest rating for legal ability from other lawyers and judges in Hawaii since 1994. Bert grew up in Kapahulu near Waikiki, earned his bachelor's degree at UH Manoa (1975) and his J.D. at the William S. Richardson School of Law (1979), and is a lifelong local resident. He has represented residents, visitors, and military personnel who were seriously injured or killed for over 45 years. His commitment to personal injury law is shaped in part by personal experience: when he was a child, his father was rendered a quadriplegic by a spinal cord injury sustained during surgery, and his family lived without recourse. That experience drives him to help injured clients and surviving families obtain the financial recovery they need. He has helped recover hundreds of millions of dollars for clients and has been voted Lawyer of the Year 13 times by Hawaii lawyers and judges in personal injury, product liability, mass torts, and insurance law, as recognized in Best Lawyers in America and Honolulu Magazine. He has spoken at more than 65 legal education seminars and has been an active participant in Hawaii's legislative process protecting the rights of injured people since 1986.
