Background
Rene Turner Sample is an owner and trial attorney with Freedman Law in Fresno, California, recognized as one of the most experienced and successful female trial lawyers in Central California. Sample earned her Juris Doctor with distinction from San Joaquin College of Law in 1988 and her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from California State University, Fresno in 1983. She is admitted to the California State Bar. Sample previously spent 12 years representing insurance companies, trying more than 20 cases, before dedicating her practice exclusively to representing injured plaintiffs. She has tried more than 50 jury trials to verdict throughout the San Joaquin Valley and is one of the valley's few plaintiffs' lawyers - and the only female plaintiffs' lawyer - to have two personal injury jury verdicts in excess of $1 million. Sample was the first female member of the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the first female attorney from Fresno named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. She has been voted by Martindale-Hubbell as one of California's Preeminent Women Lawyers. She is a past president of the Central California Trial Lawyers' Association and an active Board member of the Consumer Attorneys of California. She has been an adjunct faculty member at San Joaquin College of Law for 15 years, teaching Civil Trial Advocacy.
