Background
Richard E. Brown is Of Counsel at Herrmann Law Group, where he has worked closely with Charles Herrmann on major aviation disaster cases for decades and is widely regarded as a leading expert in aviation litigation. Early in his career he was at Stark, Stewart, Simon & Sparrow in Oakland while attending law school, then joined Melvin M. Belli's firm in 1982 and eventually became managing partner of Belli, Belli, Brown. He currently also serves as CEO of the Law Offices of Richard E. Brown. Beyond aviation law, he has represented victims of mass torts including the 1980 MGM Grand fire, Bendectin birth-defect cases, and the 1985 Dupont Plaza Hotel arson in San Juan. He has conducted civil discovery across Africa, Germany, Korea, Australia, Canada, Fiji, Pakistan, and the Middle East. He is a former Command Staff Lieutenant with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Search & Rescue Team and a licensed EMT.
