Velez Lopez earned her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Universidad Interamericana Law School of Puerto Rico in 2010. She is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Puerto Rico. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Velez Lopez began her legal career in Puerto Rico, focusing on civil and family law. After relocating to Kentucky in 2014, she worked as a researcher for the Louisville Metro Human Relations Commission, where she helped implement the 20-Year Action Plan for Fair Housing. She subsequently practiced immigration law for three years before joining Isaacs & Isaacs.
