About Elissa Coombs
Elissa M. Coombs is the Litigation Counsel for The Law Office of David E. Gordon & Elissa M. Coombs. Before joining the firm in 2019, she spent 17 years as a defense attorney concentrating in maritime law, representing towboat companies and barge owners in Jones Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act, and general maritime law cases. That background gives her firsthand insight into how insurance companies build and defend personal injury claims. She handles all of the firm's litigation from initial complaint through trial, settlement, or final judgment, and manages all maritime injury and death cases. She is board-certified as a Civil Practice Advocate and has been certified as a Proctor in Admiralty by the Maritime Law Association of the United States. Since 2003, she has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, teaching admiralty law to second- and third-year students.
