About Mark Kamitomo
Mark Kamitomo joined Luvera Law Firm in 2022 in an of-counsel role, bringing decades of experience in medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and product liability. Previously, he was president of The Markam Group, a Spokane-based firm with a national reputation for prompting safety improvements in medical care and product design. He was named the WSAJ 2010 Trial Lawyer of the Year and served as WSAJ president in 2011-2012. Kamitomo is a member of the Damage Attorneys Round Table (DART), the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He has been selected as a Super Lawyer since 2004. His notable verdicts and settlements include $9.5 million for anesthesia errors causing brain damage and loss of an arm, $12.1 million for infant brain damage caused by a hospital and physician, $6 million for nursing home negligence of a 92-year-old woman, and $16 million for a 17-year-old football player who suffered permanent brain damage from a defectively designed helmet. A 1989 graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law, he has served on Gonzaga Law School's board of advisors and the board of trustees for the litigation section of the Washington State Bar Association. He is a current board member and past president of Spokane Youth Sports Association.
