Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, Danny was the first member of his family to attend college. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame in 1996 and his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 2001. After law school, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County from 2001 to 2008 before transitioning to civil asbestos litigation in July 2008.
Danny's verdicts include a $190 million consolidated asbestos verdict in 2013, the largest in New York history, on behalf of five pleural mesothelioma plaintiffs; a $75 million single-plaintiff verdict in 2017, the largest single-case asbestos verdict in New York; a $41.625 million verdict in 2018, the largest asbestos verdict in Delaware history; and a $22 million verdict in 2011 for two lung cancer plaintiffs. He is a member of the American Association for Justice and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and was named to the National Trial Lawyers' Top 40 Under 40 in 2014.
Notable case results
A Boston jury returned a $39 million verdict against talc supplier Cimbar Performance Minerals after finding that asbestos-contaminated talc used in a 2014 chest procedure caused Bryce Zundel's mesothelioma seven years later, marking the first trial anywhere to connect the common pleurodesis technique to asbestos disease.
A New York jury awarded $28.5 million to retired Local 638 steamfitter James Petro Sr. after finding that his lung cancer was caused by asbestos exposure during the original construction of the World Trade Center, though the verdict was later vacated and a new trial ordered on apportionment.
