$2.5 Million Settlement for Texas Motorist Struck by Illegally Turning Driver

Settlement · Texas · 2024

Won by Mullen & Mullen Law Firm.

Attorney Joseph Morrison secured a $2,502,500 settlement for a motorist who sustained bone fractures after another driver made an illegal turn and caused a car-on-car collision in Texas.

What happened

A motorist traveling through a Texas intersection had no warning before another driver executed an illegal turn directly into their path. The collision was vehicle against vehicle, and the force of the crash left the injured motorist with bone fractures that required medical treatment and disrupted daily function.

Illegal turns are a predictable source of serious collisions. A driver who turns in violation of traffic law removes the other party's ability to avoid the crash entirely. The injured motorist here did nothing wrong. What followed was a course of medical care and a prolonged period of physical recovery that shaped the damages picture in this case.

Joseph Morrison of Mullen & Mullen Law Firm took the case. His task was to establish that the at-fault driver's illegal maneuver was the direct cause of the crash and the fractures that resulted, and then to build out the full scope of what the client lost: medical costs, physical pain, and the impact the injuries carried into the client's life beyond the emergency room.

Morrison pressed both liability and damages through the pre-trial process. The opposing side ultimately agreed to resolve the matter, and the case settled for $2,502,500. No trial was required.

TopVerdict.com placed the result at number 24 on its list of the top 50 personal injury settlements in Texas for 2024 and at number 22 on its top 50 motor vehicle accident settlements list for the same year, two separate editorial rankings that reflect the size of the recovery relative to other car accident settlements statewide.
