Steven began his career as a Federal Defender and Legal Aid Society representative before serving five years as a prosecutor at the Bronx District Attorney's Office, where he handled homicides and other violent crimes, including the prosecution of a cop killer and a serial rapist. After three years with an insurance defense firm, he transitioned to plaintiff personal injury work. For the last 15 years he has exclusively represented accident and police misconduct victims, focusing on wrongful death, construction accidents, motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, police brutality, wrongful arrest, and premises liability cases. Early in his career, he trained under renowned personal injury attorneys, including counsel who represented Nicole Brown Simpson's estate in the civil case against O.J. Simpson.
Steven earned his Bachelor's degree from Colgate University with honors in 1990 and his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 1993, where he received awards and grants for public service. He is admitted in New York and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
