Leann A. Gerlach is a workers' compensation attorney at Ricci Law Firm in North Carolina. Her practice covers all types of workers' compensation cases, including traumatic injury by accidents, repetitive motion injuries, occupational diseases, and catastrophic claims. She has successfully handled cases at the Deputy Commissioner and Full Commission levels before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, as well as before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Gerlach began her career defending employers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators in workers' compensation claims, bringing an informed perspective to her current work on behalf of injured workers.
A Longmeadow, Massachusetts native, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Spanish summa cum laude from Washington and Lee University in 2009, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies. She earned her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2012, where she served as staff writer and contributing editor of the North Carolina Law Review, was elected Honors Writing Scholar, served as council for the graduate honor court, and received the Gressman-Pollitt Oral Advocacy Award.
She holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell and was elected to The Best Lawyers in America for 2020, 2024, and 2025 in workers' compensation law. She was selected to the North Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2022-2025.
Gerlach is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Wake County Bar Association, the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, and the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group. She currently serves as Chair of the Workers' Compensation Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
