About John Gorey

John R. Gorey is a Partner at Romanucci & Blandin, where he represents individuals and families injured in motor vehicle and roadway collisions, construction-related incidents, product liability, medical malpractice, and other catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters. With more than 30 years of litigation experience, John brings exceptional depth and perspective to representing clients with complex injury and wrongful death cases. Before joining Romanucci and Blandin, John was most recently a Senior Partner at a prominent Chicago-area personal injury law firm and has achieved more than $125 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients. His many successful results include a $30 million settlement for a mother and daughter struck by a truck in a crosswalk, a $12.5 million settlement for an emergency room misdiagnosis of an infection, a $5 million settlement for a child who drowned during a school swimming class, a $2.6 million settlement for the family of a young woman killed in a motor vehicle collision, a $2 million verdict for a railroad worker injured on the tracks by a train and a confidential settlement for an improperly diagnosed breast cancer that led to national changes in hospital laboratory protocols. John has been repeatedly recognized for his excellence by Leading Lawyers, an honor bestowed on fewer than 5% of practicing attorneys in Illinois, and has been nominated by his peers in the Super Lawyers publication since 2017. He is an active member of the American Association for Justice, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He was elected to three terms on the Board of Managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court Character and Fitness Committee that evaluates and approves candidates for admission to the Bar. He has been admitted to practice law in Illinois, both state and Federal courts, and has been admitted pro hac vice to handle personal injury matters in numerous states throughout the country. John graduated from the University of Arizona in 1993 with a degree in History. He graduated with his Juris Doctor from the DePaul University College of Law in 1996. Outside of his legal practice, John enjoys travelling, attending musical performances and spending time with his family
