Joshua Levin

Joshua M. Levin serves as a Senior Attorney at Romanucci & Blandin, where he focuses his legal practice on cases involving Civil Rights & Police Misconduct, such as Prisoners' Rights, and Mass Shootings. Joshua works closely with Founding Partner Antonio M. Romanucci to advocate for justice for clients whose civil rights have been violated by police or other government entities, including state and federal prison systems. Additionally, he represents mass shooting victims in landmark cases against gun manufacturers and distributors. Joshua brings extensive experience to the firm. Most recently, he worked at the ACLU of Illinois' Criminal Legal System and Policing Project, where he represented clients in civil rights litigation challenging unconstitutional practices by the Chicago Police Department. He also worked at a large international law firm, where he represented clients at the trial and appellate level and in government enforcement actions in a broad range of matters, including data privacy class actions, prisoner rights litigation, securities litigation, insurance coverage litigation, and First Amendment litigation. Joshua earned his law degree from Yale Law School, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Journal of Law & the Humanities. He earned his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Northwestern University, where he was awarded Phi Beta Kappa. After law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Beverly B. Martin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and to the Honorable Keith P. Ellison of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Joshua has been recognized on the Best Lawyers "Ones to Watch" list, and he was honored with the 2024 Legal Advocacy and Dedication Award by the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, as well as the Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Joshua is admitted to practice in Illinois before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Joshua values community service and gives back by serving on the Young Professionals Board of the John Howard Association, which is dedicated to monitoring Illinois prisons and advocating for a more humane criminal justice system. He has also served as a volunteer teacher for the Chicago Bar Association's Lawyers in the Classroom program. In his free time, Joshua enjoys playing the piano, cooking, and traveling.
