Benedict 'Ben' V. James is a Founder and Managing Partner of Sandoval & James Law Firm in Austin, Texas, which he co-founded with Esteban Sandoval in 2016. He represents clients in personal injury and wrongful death matters and has an extensive history of first-chairing jury trials across multiple Texas counties.
A native of Austin, James practiced for eight years before launching the firm — trying both personal injury and criminal cases and managing litigation departments at multiple Texas firms. He has recovered millions of dollars for his clients and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
James has been recognized as a National Trial Lawyers Top 100 attorney, on the American Academy of Attorneys' Texas Top 100, named Texas Litigator of the Year by the American Institute of Trial Lawyers, named to the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys' Top 10 Attorneys in Texas, named American Institute of Legal Professionals' Lawyer of the Year (2023), and ranked Top 1% by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and is a member of the Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association.
James earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from Baylor Law School. He was admitted to The State Bar of Texas on May 2, 2008 (bar #24058518), and practices before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas. He is fluent in Bulgarian and proficient in Serbian and Macedonian.
