Arthur L. Schechter is the founding partner of Schechter, Shaffer & Harris, LLP in Houston, Texas, and has been practicing personal injury and maritime law since 1964. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His main practice is admiralty law, representing maritime unions including the National Maritime Union, the International Transport Workers' Federation, and individual seamen worldwide. He served as U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas from 1998-2001, sworn in by Vice President Al Gore.
