About Matthew Leonard
Matthew S. Leonard is an associate attorney at Smith LaCien LLP, focusing on catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death. Before joining as an attorney, he served as a law clerk for the firm for three years, assisting with pleadings, motion practice, and trial preparation. Matthew attended DePaul University College of Law, where he was a member of the DePaul Appellate Moot Court Society and competed in the Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition, earning a third-place brief award. He graduated cum laude and was on the Dean's List. He received his undergraduate degree from Lake Forest College cum laude, majoring in Business with minors in Legal Studies and Philosophy, and was a four-year player and captain of the football team. His interest in plaintiff's trial work was shaped by his father and grandfather, both prominent plaintiff's trial attorneys in Phoenix, Arizona.
