Kolodner earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1961, where he graduated second in his class, served as Associate Editor of the Maryland Law Review, was inducted into the Order of the Coif Honorary Society, and received the Lawyer Title Award in Property and the American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure.
