A U.S. Army veteran with an honorable discharge, Fischbeck formerly held a Top Secret security clearance and worked as a certified optician before pursuing academia and then law. Before entering law school, Fischbeck spent over seven years as an educator at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where he designed and independently taught courses in Philosophy and Political Science while pursuing his PhD in Applied Philosophy. He earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, where he received the Excellence in Oral Advocacy award and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers. He also holds an M.A. in Philosophy and a B.A. in Philosophy (magna cum laude, Dean's List) from the University of Houston.
