About John Amsden
John L. Amsden is a Partner at Beck, Amsden & Stalpes. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Montana State University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. John has been nominated by Super Lawyers from 2007 through 2026. Over the past decade, he has led litigation teams that recovered more than $100 million for Montana clients in complex and multi-forum cases, including minority shareholder litigation, director and officer liability, partnership disputes, accounting malpractice, and insurance coverage disputes. In the Yellowstone Club World cases, John served as lead counsel for the Chapter 7 Trustee, recovering tens of millions of dollars for club members and creditors. In the Tidyman's cases, he was co-lead counsel representing ESOP participants whose $29 million in retirement accounts were wiped out by self-interested corporate management, with appeals reaching the Ninth Circuit and Montana Supreme Court. In the Vann's Inc. litigation, John led the team that recovered $15.5 million for employee owners and creditors after corporate insiders looted the company. He was also co-lead counsel in the Montana Hospitals litigation, securing $6.9 million for employees of five hospitals that had conspired with a health insurer to overcharge on premiums.
