Background
Andres Pereira is an Attorney at DJC Law in Austin, Texas, and a veteran aviation, mass tort, and complex litigation lawyer with over 25 years of experience. A Houston native, he focuses on aviation accidents, product liability, pharmaceutical litigation, consumer class actions, and health care cost recovery, and has represented governments and tribal nations in addition to individual injured plaintiffs. Pereira has been lead counsel in high-profile aviation MDLs, including the American Airlines Flight 587 crash in Belle Harbor, New York, where he represented families of four of the 260 passengers killed and obtained multi-million-dollar recoveries in each case. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Plaintiffs' Executive Committee in the Delta Flight 4819 crash MDL arising from the 2025 incident at Toronto Pearson International Airport, and he filed the first federal lawsuit in that matter. Earlier in his career he represented thousands of clients in the Wyeth diet drug litigation and was lead counsel in Southwest Refinery v. Bernal — the 2000 Texas Supreme Court decision that redefined Texas class action procedure. In international and government work, Pereira has represented the governments of Guatemala and Kyrgyzstan, multiple Brazilian states, and the Navajo Nation in cost-recovery and complex litigation matters. A current instrument-rated complex fixed-wing and instrument-rated helicopter pilot, Pereira draws on direct flight experience in aviation cases. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with majors in Spanish, Economics, and Ibero-American Studies, and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in Houston.
