Honora Gathings

Honora McKeown Gathings is a founding partner at Gathings Law. She grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, earned a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University in 1975, and graduated from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1978, where she served on the Moot Court Board from 1976 to 1978 and was Associate Editor of The American Journal of Trial Advocacy. Her practice covers complex litigation including business tort cases, toxic, environmental, and pharmaceutical tort matters, serious personal injury, consumer class actions, products liability, fraud, and international law. She also handles family law matters and is a certified mediator and certified Collaborative Divorce Attorney. She is a member of the Alabama Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, the Birmingham Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice, where she participates in the business tort, international practice, and toxic/environmental/pharmaceutical tort sections. She has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. District Courts in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi, and both the Alabama and Florida Supreme Courts. Since 2004 she has served as a board member of The American Journal of Trial Advocacy Foundation and plays an active mentorship role for Cumberland School of Law students, including Women in Law and journal mentorship programs. She has been voted AV Peer Review Rated and named an Alabama Super Lawyer by her peers. She has been honored through Strathmore's Who's Who since 2001 and Madison's Who's Who, and was named one of Birmingham Biz Magazine's Top Lawyers in 2016.
