Lloyd Gathings

Lloyd W. Gathings is the founding partner at Gathings Law. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning his bachelor's degree in 1973, then graduated summa cum laude, first in a class of approximately 230 students, from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1976, where he served as Executive Editor of the Cumberland Law Review. Over the following decades he has concentrated on complex litigation, including business tort cases, products liability, on-the-job injuries, class action work, fraud, and toxic tort matters. He has served as lead or co-counsel in numerous plaintiffs' cases resulting in judgments, verdicts, or settlements exceeding $1 million. He founded Gathings Law on the belief that every person, regardless of social or economic status, is entitled to the best representation in court. He is a member of the Alabama Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, and the Birmingham Bar Association, and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 11th, 7th, 6th, and 5th Circuits, and various U.S. District Courts in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Illinois. He was instrumental in forming Alabama Lawyers for Children and the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation, and served as Chairman of the Board of Alabama Lawyers for Children. He has been voted AV Peer Review Rated and named an Alabama Super Lawyer by his peers. He has been featured in Newsweek, Fortune Magazine, and on Sky Radio as one of America's Premier Lawyers, and was named one of Birmingham Biz Magazine's Top Lawyers in 2016.
