Left-Turn Crash on Busy Sedalia Intersection Ends in $162,000 Settlement for Two Injured Occupants

On the morning of December 10, 2024, Phillip Stonecipher was driving eastbound on Broadway Boulevard in Sedalia, Missouri, with passenger Holly Friese. As they approached the intersection with Grand Avenue, the signal was green and Stonecipher proceeded normally.

At the same moment, defendant Donald Bradley attempted a left turn from westbound Broadway onto Grand Avenue. Bradley's vehicle cut across Stonecipher's path, causing a direct collision. The force of the impact sent Stonecipher's car across the centerline, where it struck a third vehicle. Airbags deployed in Stonecipher's car.

Both occupants were taken for emergency care. Stonecipher was diagnosed with a concussion along with head, neck, and back pain, and later reported blurred vision in his left eye and other neurological symptoms. Friese, riding as a passenger, suffered neck and right shoulder pain, chest pain, a concussion, whiplash, internal bruising, persistent headaches, and sleep disturbance. A brain MRI was performed on Friese; results came back normal. Both plaintiffs completed roughly 28 chiropractic sessions before treatment concluded in June 2025.

Laurie Del Percio of Horn Law Firm in Independence represented both clients in the Pettis County Circuit Court matter. Photographs and video documenting the severity of the collision proved central to the pre-trial resolution. According to Del Percio, the visual evidence of impact strength was key in bringing the case to a successful conclusion without going to trial.

The parties reached a settlement on December 1, 2025. Holly Friese received $100,000 and Phillip Stonecipher received $62,000, for a combined total of $162,000.
