A. Elicia Montoya

Elicia Montoya has dedicated her practice to ensuring that her work makes a difference for clients and the community. She focuses on catastrophic-injury and wrongful-death cases, pursuing systemic changes as part of settlements to prevent future tragedies. Her verdicts and settlements total well over $100 million. She has successfully tried cases throughout New Mexico and teaches trial skills to lawyers nationally. Elicia began her commitment to justice in law school, where she received the Margaret Keiper Dailey Award for Social Justice and helped found the first Children's Law Clinic at UNM School of Law. She clerked for the Honorable James J. Wechsler at the New Mexico Court of Appeals before entering private practice, and has served as an adjunct professor at UNM teaching trial advocacy. She holds an AV Preeminent rating, is a Super Lawyers selectee from 2015 to 2024, and is included in the Lawdragon 500.
