About Eugene Brees

Eugene W. 'Chip' Brees joined the firm in May 2002 after nearly 26 years as a personal injury defense lawyer. Born in Alabama and raised in Maryland, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law. After graduating from law school in 1976, he worked at the Dallas firm of Thompson and Knight, handling insurance defense and personal injury cases until moving to the firm's Austin office in 1986. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and has been named a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters and listed in The Best Lawyers in America every year since 2003. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association. Since switching to the plaintiff's side in 2002, Mr. Brees has focused on serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, bringing a distinctive perspective from his background representing defendants.
