About James Scherr
James F. Scherr, a native El Pasoan, is the founding partner of Scherr Legate. Jim has been practicing law for over 43 years and has served as lead trial counsel for the plaintiff in more than 250 wrongful death and personal injury jury trials. He has handled cases in Texas, New Mexico, California, Arizona, Nevada, and other states, covering construction, trucking, bus, product liability, trains, tires, fires and explosions, trench collapse, building collapse, electrocution, civil rights, motor vehicle, and workplace incidents. His cases have been covered by CBS, Insider Exclusive, Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, and numerous other outlets. In 1976, at age 22, Jim was sworn in as one of the youngest attorneys in Texas at the time, earning one of the top grades on the bar exam. Shortly after his 1977 election as the youngest person ever elected to El Paso City Council, he began his personal injury practice and has remained committed to the community through civic, business, and political involvement.
