
About Knut Johnson
Knut S. Johnson, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, leads the Environmental Litigation and Policy practice group at Singleton Schreiber. He brings over 30 years of experience as a trial attorney, having handled complex trials, appeals, and habeas corpus proceedings and litigated cases alleging violations of environmental laws, including under the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act. He received the ABA's unanimous Well Qualified rating (the highest ABA rating) after nomination to U.S. District Court in 2020, was named a Top 50 Attorney in San Diego Super Lawyers in 2019 and 2020, and received the University of San Diego School of Law Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018. Before his legal career, Mr. Johnson studied petroleum engineering and geology at Tulane University and worked as a petroleum geologist for a major oil company. He graduated cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1986 and is licensed in the state courts of Arizona, California, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Washington, and in multiple federal courts including the International Criminal Court, The Hague.
