About Andrew Minney

Andrew Minney grew up in the East Bay, where his father served as a superior court judge for more than 40 years. That upbringing instilled a deep respect for the legal system and inspired him to become a trial attorney. He was a competitive swimmer and water polo player in his youth and earned his undergraduate degree in political science from UC Irvine before returning to the Bay Area to work as a claims examiner in the insurance industry. He attended John F. Kennedy School of Law in Walnut Creek while working full time, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 1998. During his final year of law school, he was the first student to join the Contra Costa County Chapter of the American Inns of Court. He has been a civil litigator for more than 20 years, practicing in state and federal courts throughout Northern and Southern California. His appellate work includes the long-standing Third District published opinion in Shepard v. Mackay (2006). He has represented clients on both the plaintiff and defense sides of personal injury cases, giving him a thorough understanding of opposing strategies. Outside work, he and his wife have been licensed emergency foster care providers in Sacramento County since 2006 and volunteer at Sacramento's Front Street Animal Shelter. He has four children and has served as a scout leader and youth soccer coach.
