Background

Sylvia Cabrera heads the Hispanic/Spanish department at Herrmann Law Group in Seattle, leading the firm's effort to better serve the Latino community in Washington State. Born and raised in Mexico City, she joined the Mexican Foreign Service in 1998 and served Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in various positions before serving as Deputy Consul at the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle for six years, where she focused on providing opportunities to the Mexican community in Washington. She has alternated her career between public service and academia, including teaching public international law, multilateral and bilateral negotiations, and world legal systems. She is co-founder of the nonprofit La TribUne, which provides web-based resources to the Hispanic community in Washington.
