Pierre Bergeron

Pierre Bergeron joins MSD after six years of service as a judge on Ohio's First District Court of Appeals, where his colleagues elected him Administrative Judge in 2021. In that role, he guided the Court through the pandemic and led a comprehensive revamp of its technology and case management systems. He also served as a visiting judge on the Ohio Supreme Court and the Fourth, Sixth, and Tenth Appellate Districts, and was selected to teach new-judge training for incoming Ohio appellate judges. Before his election as judge, Pierre was chair of the Appellate and Supreme Court Practice at a global law firm and previously clerked for Judge David A. Nelson on the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is one of the few Ohio lawyers to have argued multiple cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. Pierre teaches state constitutional law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law and serves as the Lively Professor of Government and Law at Centre College. He has published articles in the law reviews of Wake Forest, Emory, Cincinnati, Tennessee, and Kentucky. At MSD, he focuses on alternative dispute resolution, appellate work, and complex commercial litigation.
