About Matthew Birch
Matthew E. Birch is an accomplished trial attorney and partner at Shamberg, Johnson & Bergman, Chtd. Throughout his career, Matt has focused on representing parents and families of children and infants injured by medical negligence and malpractice. With six children of his own, he relates deeply to clients navigating the challenges of raising children with special needs. Matt has been with the firm since 2000, with a period in 2001-2003 during which he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Dean Whipple, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. Born and raised in Kansas City, he earned his undergraduate degree from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas in 1997, then attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, graduating with distinction. During law school, he served as managing editor of the UMKC Law Review and as a teaching assistant in the legal writing program. Matt is a published author on legal topics and a frequent presenter at legal education seminars. He has been selected for inclusion in the Super Lawyers list on multiple occasions and was named among Missouri Lawyers Weekly's 2010 Up and Coming Lawyers.
