Background

Christina (Mark) Mercado is a Partner at Block O'Toole & Murphy, where she handles a wide range of personal injury matters and serves as the lead associate of the firm's appellate and complex motion practices, regularly writing briefs to the Appellate Division and the New York Court of Appeals. Christina earned her undergraduate degree in journalism from New York University and her Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School, where she served as Executive Articles Editor of the Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy and as an advocate in the Notre Dame Legal Aid Clinic. Before joining Block O'Toole & Murphy as a summer intern and later as an associate, she worked in the Appeals Bureau of the Nassau County District Attorney's Office and in the chambers of the Honorable Joan O'Dwyer of the Queens County Supreme Court. Her practice focuses on wrongful death, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, labor law, and construction accident cases. Her case results include an $8.8 million settlement for a Queens pedestrian who suffered a brain injury, a $7.525 million recovery in a fatal Suffolk County auto accident, and numerous other seven-figure resolutions. Christina is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. She was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Personal Injury – Plaintiff every year from 2017 through 2022, and was elevated to the main Super Lawyers list in 2023. She was also recognized as a Bloomfield Woman to Watch during Women's History Month in 2022. She volunteers with Open Hands Legal Services and is an annual running buddy with Girls on the Run NYC.
