About Brent Hazzard
Brent Hazzard is a native of Greenville, Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with an accounting degree in 1996 and a law degree in 1999. He began his career in Tupelo representing clients in employment discrimination and civil rights matters. In 2004, at age 32, the Mississippi Attorney General hired him as a Special Assistant Attorney General to prosecute civil actions against Microsoft and an illegal vitamin cartel. The Attorney General announced a $100 million settlement with Microsoft (the largest state settlement against Microsoft) and approximately $27 million against the vitamin cartel (one of the largest in the nation), with Brent and Richard Schwartz serving as lead mediators on the vitamin case. In 2008 he was hired as an Assistant Hinds County Prosecutor, handling cases in Justice Court, County Court, Youth Court, City Court, and the Mississippi Supreme Court. In 2013, Judge R. David Proctor selected him for the Litigation Committee of the $2.67 billion settlement in In re: Blue Cross Blue Shield. He is currently based in Jackson and enjoys fitness, sports, and broadcasting podcasts.
