About William Shaheen

William Shaheen is a Dover native who has practiced law in New Hampshire since 1973. He earned his B.A. from the University of New Hampshire in 1965, served as a U.S. Army Captain from 1965 to 1969, then earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi in 1973, graduating second in his class. He began his career working alongside a retired judge focusing on civil litigation and estates, and soon became City Attorney for Somersworth. In 1977, President Carter appointed him U.S. Attorney for the District of New Hampshire, then the youngest U.S. Attorney in the country, a post he held until 1981. He co-founded Shaheen & Gordon with Steven Gordon in 1981 and has practiced personal injury law, family law, and general civil litigation ever since.
