About Derek Phipps
Derek Phipps is a lifelong resident of the greater Cincinnati area. He graduated from The Ohio State University and earned his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Derek began his legal career in public service as a public defender, where he was in the courtroom daily and tried hundreds of cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies, many resulting in not-guilty verdicts without a plea bargain. His success in the courtroom led to him training other trial attorneys for most of his public defender career. Derek now devotes 100 percent of his time to representing clients who have been seriously injured or who have lost a loved one due to others' negligence. He is active in the Cincinnati legal community, serving on the Executive Committee of the Potter Stewart Inn of Court through the Cincinnati Bar Association, and has been appointed to two leadership committees at the American Association for Justice. He is a graduate of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers. His peer recognition includes Super Lawyers Rising Star, National Trial Lawyers Top 100, and National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 Civil Plaintiff Attorney. He is admitted in Ohio and Kentucky state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
