About Perry Weitz
Perry Weitz co-founded Weitz & Luxenberg in 1986 after beginning his career representing AFL-CIO union members diagnosed with mesothelioma and asbestosis from workplace asbestos exposure. He became the first New York attorney to obtain punitive damages against Celotex Corp. in the landmark George v. Celotex case, decided by the Second Circuit in 1990. Over his career he played a direct role in obtaining verdicts and settlements collectively worth more than $5 billion before transitioning from courtroom litigation to settlement negotiations. He is a repeated recipient of the Super Lawyer designation and has been named New York City Lawyer of the Year in mass-torts litigation. In 2011, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice named him its Champion of Justice. He graduated from Hofstra University School of Law in 1983.
