About Kristin Murray-James
Attorney Kristin Murray-James brings a diversity of life and career experience to her role at Berman & Simmons. After a successful first career caring for women and families as a Certified Nurse Midwife, she pivoted to law school and then served as an Assistant District Attorney in Kennebec County, focusing on domestic violence, sex crimes, and crimes against children. Handling sexual abuse and assault claims as a member of the Berman & Simmons Sexual Abuse Survivors Practice Team is the next step in this progression. As a personal injury attorney with a background in midwifery and public service, Kristin understands the effects of trauma and builds trusting relationships with clients facing difficult, life-changing events. Kristin grew up on Long Island and graduated from SUNY Oneonta before joining the Peace Corps and serving in Morocco. She then completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Yale University School of Nursing and practiced as a midwife for over a decade before attending the University of Maine School of Law. She is a member of the Maine State Bar Association and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association.
