About Meryl Poulin
Meryl Poulin is a trial lawyer and partner at Gideon Asen LLC whose practice focuses on medical malpractice, personal injury, and product liability litigation. A Maine native, Meryl graduated from Colby College, where she was a multi-sport varsity athlete and captain of the hockey and field hockey teams, and earned her J.D. cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law, where she received the Gignoux Award for Appellate Advocacy. Before joining Gideon Asen in 2021, she defended medical malpractice and personal injury cases at a large Portland firm and then represented low-income Mainers in housing and domestic violence matters at Pine Tree Legal Assistance, trying nearly twenty cases to verdict. Since joining the firm, Meryl has played a central role in trial teams that have secured more than $41 million in jury verdicts in Maine.
She was part of the team that won the $25 million medical malpractice verdict in October 2025, the largest personal injury verdict in Maine's history. A Cumberland County jury awarded $25 million to the mother of a 15-year-old girl who died five days after a physician at Mid Coast Medical Group misdiagnosed her acute leukemia as a hormonal condition, without ordering an X-ray.
A Penobscot County jury awarded Travis Getchell $6.5 million after finding Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center negligent for delaying emergency surgery by nearly 24 hours, leaving him partially paralyzed.
