Sean P. Murphy is a trial lawyer at Gideon Asen LLC representing individuals and families in complex personal injury, medical malpractice, industrial workplace accidents, and other serious civil cases. Sean's career spans federal prosecution, appellate advocacy, and complex civil litigation. After earning his J.D. cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2014 -- where he received the Rickert Award for Excellence in Advocacy and tried federal civil rights cases as a student -- he worked as a federal prosecutor in Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., handling cases involving transnational drug trafficking, firearms, and money laundering. Following the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack, Sean volunteered to serve on detail to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, where he became a founding leader of the Capitol Siege Section and served as Federal Assault Coordinator. In private practice, he litigated environmental and toxic tort cases involving PFAS contamination, AFFF firefighting foam, CERCLA claims, and Federal Tort Claims Act cases. Born in Utah and raised in Vermont, Sean was drawn back to Northern New England to join Gideon Asen's mission. He is admitted in New York State and multiple federal courts, with Maine and Vermont admissions pending.
