About Melvin Wright
Melvin Bowen Wright was born and raised in rural South Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences in 1981 and his J.D. from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in 1985. He moved to Central Florida and began practicing law in Orlando in 1985, initially handling both plaintiff and defense work before committing exclusively to plaintiff representation. Wright is board certified in civil trial law by the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy, has been selected to Super Lawyers for 21 consecutive years, was named Best Lawyers 'Lawyer of the Year' in 2023 and 2026 for Plaintiff's Personal Injury Law in Orlando, and received the ABOTA 'Trial Lawyer of the Year' award in 2025. He is admitted to all Florida and Georgia state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He co-founded Colling Gilbert Wright in 2005.
