
About Jonathan Nelson
Jonathan N. Nelson is a VA-accredited attorney and retired U.S. Marine Corps Major at Sokolove Law, dedicated to helping veterans and families affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. A graduate of the University of Virginia and Wake Forest University School of Law, Jonathan began his legal career as a U.S. Marine Corps judge advocate. During his 15 years of military service, he deployed to Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, taught criminal law and trial advocacy at the Naval Justice School, and later served as Staff Judge Advocate for the 2nd Marine Division. His military honors include the Meritorious Service Medal and four Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medals. After retiring from the Marine Corps, Jonathan continued his public service through legal and veterans advocacy work, including handling Freedom of Information Act appeals for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and assisting veterans through VA-accredited representation. He has extensive experience helping former service members navigate the VA benefits system, including claims related to mesothelioma and asbestos exposure. Jonathan is a member of the Virginia State Bar and is accredited by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to assist with VA benefits claims.
