Joseph Trunk

Joseph Trunk practices out of Sokolove Law's Alton, Illinois office, focusing on mesothelioma and asbestos litigation. He represents victims seeking compensation after asbestos exposure, helping hold companies responsible for their illnesses accountable. Much of his work involves sitting with clients, reconstructing decades-old work histories, and tracing exactly where and how asbestos exposure occurred. In 2022, Joseph second-chaired a mesothelioma case in Cook County, Illinois that resulted in a multimillion-dollar jury verdict for the family of a pipefitter who died after working at commercial and industrial job sites throughout Chicago. He has also secured dozens of asbestos settlements for clients without a trial, while remaining prepared for cases that go to a jury. Joseph earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Consumer Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he completed a certificate in intellectual property law and served as an editor for the Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property. Before joining Sokolove Law, he spent several years at other Chicago-area firms handling toxic tort and product liability cases. Joseph is admitted in Illinois (2019) and New York (2022), as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He has earned a National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 selection and a Super Lawyers Rising Stars designation, and he volunteers with Triage Cancer's Legal Advisory Council.
