About Erica Hovey
Erica is an attorney practicing criminal defense and general litigation in North Dakota and Minnesota. She has a broad range of experience, including defending individuals facing felony and misdemeanor charges, restraining orders, traffic offenses, pre-charge investigations, and other litigation issues. Erica is also a Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel attorney for the U.S. District Court, District of North Dakota. Erica earned her juris doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law. While in law school, Erica cultivated her courtroom advocacy skills in preparation of becoming a zealous advocate for her clients. She participated and excelled in several advocacy competitions, receiving numerous awards, honors, and scholarships for her exceptional advocacy ability. She attained the highest grade in her criminal advocacy course. Erica also served as president of the Student Trial Lawyers Association, a judicial extern for the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota, and an intern for the Grand Forks County State’s Attorney’s Office. Before joining the Vogel Law Firm, Erica served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Chief Justice Jon J. Jensen of the North Dakota Supreme Court. When she is not practicing law, Erica is an active member in her community. She coaches Advanced Trial Advocacy at the University of North Dakota School of Law, guest judges for many trial and moot court competitions, serves as secretary for the Fargo-Moorhead Choral Ar
