Background

Joey N. Hamby is a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney and Partner at The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm in Chandler, Arizona. An attorney since 1994, he is a Certified Criminal Law Specialist through the State Bar of Arizona. Joey has personally represented clients in hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases in state and federal courts, with a practice focused exclusively on self-defense matters and deadly-force cases. He began handling death penalty cases in 2003 and has represented numerous clients charged with first degree murder facing capital punishment, also serving as a Post-Conviction Relief expert on capital cases. Joey earned his B.A. through the Justice Studies Program at Arizona State University in 1990 and his J.D. from the University of Dayton in Ohio in 1994. Between college and law school he worked as a probation officer in Maricopa County.
