Background

Ravi Sattiraju serves as Of Counsel to Block O'Toole & Murphy and is a founding partner of Sattiraju & Tharney, LLP. With more than 25 years of experience, he focuses his practice on employment litigation in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Ravi has litigated a broad spectrum of employment matters under Title VII, the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, the Conscientious Employee Protection Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and New Jersey wage and hour laws. He previously served as the primary in-house employment attorney for L'Oreal USA, where he supported approximately 8,000 employees. Ravi served as lead counsel in a perceived sexual orientation hostile work environment claim that resulted in a $22.6 million verdict, which was the largest single-plaintiff and punitive damage award in the history of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Employment Litigation from 2008-2013 and as a Super Lawyer from 2015-2024. Ravi earned his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law at Newark and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, and has served as President of the South Asian Bar Association of New Jersey and on the New Jersey State Bar Association Labor and Employment Section Executive Committee.
