About Karen Hughes

Karen J. Hughes is a lifelong Little Rock native. She earned her psychology degree from the University of Arkansas before attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law, where she was hired as a law clerk at Laser Law Firm during school. She graduated in 1989 and practiced insurance defense litigation for 15 years at Laser Law Firm, then joined former partners at Watts, Donovan & Tilley in 2004, followed by Smith, Williams & Meeks, LLP, eventually becoming a partner. In 2020 she joined Rainwater, Holt & Sexton to apply her insurance background to representing injured Arkansans. She has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America and is a member of Litigation Counsel of America and The National Trial Lawyers Honorary Society. She was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2007 and served as Arkansas Chapter President for 2024.
